Drawing Project Aids

Whilst casting about for resources to help me brush up (well, in truth, develop!!!) my drawing skills, I came across two invaluable resources. One is a superb book by an artist that I have huge admiration for, Brenda Hoddinott. It's available at Amazon to order. Truly, anyone can pick up some excellent techniques from this book, and Brenda makes it fun. By the time you realise what's going on, you've drawn several interesting things, and you're hooked!

The other fantastic resource is a shop based in Salisbury who also carry out mail order, called The Compleat Artist. Click on their name to visit their website. I managed to find things there which I couldn't find anywhere else, like a full range of Faber Castell mechanical pencils and leads, and the staff are very knowledgable and helpful. A super shopping experience.

Confused About Recycling??

After the major de-cluttering and spring cleaning exercise that's been going on for about 2 months (!) we decided that making a major commitment to proper recycling was in order. I tasked myself to find out what could be recycled and where and when, and ended up getting very confused!

Finding out whether or not you can recycle envelopes, what colour they must be, what bin to put them in, what to do if they're gummed.... and everyone you consult says something different. And don't even set me started on plastic.....!!!!

This is a useful guide. http://www.waverley.gov.uk/waste/recycling.asp. We're a few weeks in now and doing really well - we're having to empty the boxes at least once per week, and we're now finding that we're putting out about half a bin-bag's worth of un-recyclables per week!

Marvellous. I recommend the activity highly.
