A Film You Should Watch

Having got over the horror of the "Chronicles" film at last, we dared to watch another new film that we've been intending to see for a while.

We waited until we were on holiday in St Ives (and therefore would have plenty to distract us afterwards if this film was as intellectually distressing as "Chronicles").

The film was "Shaun of The Dead" billed as "A romantic comedy. With zombies." (note the comic timing use of the punctuation there. Very promising.). Sounds good, thought we! Click on the image below for Internet Movie Database review.

I love British films. The humour in this one, although obvious in parts, is black in the way that the hidden humour in films like "Dog Soldiers" is black. It's even blacker than BlackAdder (which we also love). I can say without a doubt that this is one of the funniest films I've ever seen, with some stunning acting and a sparkling cast. If you hire the DVD, listen to the commentary. It's almost as funny on it's own as the movie.

The special effects are amazing and subtle. When you think about how much special effects are needed to make the zombies (and what happens to them!) believable, then the film becomes a work of (gory) art!

If you're feeling a bit down, need to chill out, need to have a laugh, then this is the film. I've seen it twice now, and am waiting until a there has been a decent interval before I can watch it again.

If Mike Butler reads this at any point, when I saw the lead actor in this, I thought for a split second that you'd quit construction and had taken up acting! He reminded me so much of you it's just untrue.
